Pet Sitting & Dog Walking in Windham
Windham sits on the eastern shore of Sebago Lake, from North Windham to South Windham. We look after Windham pets at home, any animal, with a photo and a text after every visit.
- Walks from your door or a favorite town park
- Overnight sitting in your own home
- Meet and greet at your house, free
Windham runs along the eastern shore of Sebago Lake, from North Windham in the north to South Windham, with the lake nearby and a mix of town parks and land trust trails to walk. If you live here, we’d like your pets’ world to stay just as it is while you’re away.
Staying home is the gentler choice
A kennel means a car ride, strange smells and a lot of strange animals. A visit from us means none of that. Your dog stays where its nose already knows everything, your cat keeps its favorite windowsill, and your rabbit, bird or guinea pig keeps its own corner.
With one-on-one care, the daycare risks that owners worry about, like fights between dogs that don’t know each other and illness passing around a crowded room, simply aren’t there.
Pets who aren’t dogs
Not every Windham household is built around a dog. Drop-ins cover cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and other rodents, reptiles, fish and livestock, from 15 minutes to an hour or more. A cat home alone gets company and play along with food and water. A reptile gets its enclosure temperature and humidity checked against your numbers, and fish get the exact amount of food.
Medication, mealtimes and slow mornings
A lot of what keeps older and special-needs pets well is the timing. We follow yours.
- Medications on the clock: given at the set time, including overnight doses when we’re constant-care sitting.
- Meals measured your way: the same amounts, the same bowl, the same fresh water.
- Gentle help for seniors: getting up, getting outside and settling back down, without rushing.
- Fast news when it matters: if a pet is off its food or something goes wrong at the house, you hear right away.
Where Windham walks its dogs
The town names two of its own parks as good places to walk a dog, and a local land trust adds a third.
- Donnabeth Lippman Park: 123 acres off Route 302 in North Windham, with a trail loop around Chaffin Pond.
- Claman Sanctuary: a town sanctuary best known for its high-bush blueberries.
- Black Brook Preserve: 105 acres with a 1.7-mile loop and bog bridges, where pets are permitted.
The town lists ordinances on dogs at large and on animal waste. We haven’t been able to confirm the details of the leash rule, so check the current text with the town. Either way, bring a bag and pick up after your dog.
Fall in the woods
Hunting is allowed at the Windham Community Forest and at Black Brook Preserve, and the land trust recommends blaze orange in the fall. A bright vest or bandana makes a dog easy to see among the trees.
Maine CDC says ticks can be active on any day above freezing, so we check your dog over after woods walks all year, not only in summer. In winter, paws are rinsed or wiped after every walk because road salt cracks pads and dogs lick it off.

When your dog can’t be left, even for an hour
A puppy, an elderly dog, a dog on a tight medication schedule or a dog who panics alone often needs more than a visit. Constant care means a person stays with your pet the whole time, not on a schedule. It’s also a good fit for big packs, where paying per animal gets costly. After surgery, we work from your vet’s discharge instructions and look after the cone, the crate rest and the stitches.
It lets an animal recover at home instead of in a strange room.
A ride to the vet or groomer
If an appointment lands in the middle of your day, we can take your dog to the vet, the groomer or daycare. The dog is buckled in with a seatbelt, and you can ask for a crate instead.
Overnights at the lake
If you’re away overnight, we arrive at 7pm and stay until 9am. Your pets keep their beds, their yard and their schedule, and evening looks the way it always does. The last trip outside happens at your time, the cat is on the bed if that’s where it sleeps, and the lights stay as you leave them.
A photo arrives before bed and another in the morning, so you can see how the night went.
Boarding nearby
If you’d rather your pet stay with us, our quieter Portland home is the nearer of our two boarding homes, with far fewer animals than Lindsay’s Milford house. Pets sleep in the house, not a kennel run, and every stay starts with a meet and greet.
Nearby towns we also cover
Boarding stays are at our quieter Portland home, the closer of our two to Windham.

Yes. We stay in your home from 7pm to 9am, keep meals and medications on your schedule, and send a photo before bed and in the morning.
That's exactly what overnight sitting and drop-ins are for. Seniors keep their own bed, their own stairs and their own mealtimes, and we can help a dog who needs a hand getting up, outside or settled. If an elderly animal needs someone with it all the time, we offer constant care too.
No, not by default. A dog is walked alone or with the dogs it lives with. A walking buddy only happens with the other owner's consent, a meet and greet and a trial walk.
