Think about how your pet sees the day. The bowl is in its spot, the dog’s nose is at the window when a familiar step comes up the path, the cat has a favorite chair, and the bed smells right. For an animal, that is not just comfort. It is what keeps the day safe and predictable.

For 18 years we’ve cared for pets across Maine, and not just dogs and cats: horses, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and more. Wherever you are on our list, we bring that care to the pet’s own home.

Why we come to your pet

A hectic place can suit some dogs, but it carries risks. You may trust your own dog, but you can’t know every animal in the room, and that is how fights and illness happen. One-on-one care removes the risk and leaves you with real peace of mind.

At home, an overnight stay runs from 7pm to 9am. Your animals keep their beds, their yard and their schedule. Meals are measured the way you measure them, medications are given at their set times, and we ask when the last trip outside is, whether the cat sleeps on the bed and which lights stay on. Evenings that look like every other evening are the ones pets settle into best.

You get a photo before bed and another in the morning, and if something goes wrong, you hear right away.

Fifteen towns in four regions

  • Southern Maine: Wells, Portland, Windham, Sebago, Brunswick and Lewiston/Auburn.
  • Central Maine & Midcoast: Augusta, Waterville, Rockland and Belfast.
  • Greater Bangor & North: Bangor, Dover-Foxcroft and Lincoln, the closest towns to our Milford home.
  • Downeast: Bar Harbor and Ellsworth, on the road to Acadia.

Pick a region or a town to see what’s local to it, and how our services work there.

Whatever the animal needs

Some pets need a quick midday visit. Others need a walk that suits a puppy still learning the leash, or a senior who takes hills slowly. Some need someone with them the whole time: after surgery, on a tight medication schedule, or because they hurt themselves when left alone.

Elderly, disabled and special-needs animals are welcome, and for recovery we work from your vet’s written discharge instructions.

On walks, your dog goes out alone or with the dogs it lives with, never mixed with dogs from other homes, and comes back to fresh water and wiped paws. We can also drive your pet to the vet or groomer, with dogs secured by a seatbelt, and for weddings we keep a dog calm through the photos and the crowd.

Two homes for boarding

When a stay away from home is right, your pet lives in a sitter’s home with the household and sleeps in the house, not in a kennel run. We board in two places. Milford is Lindsay’s home, near Bangor, and a lively house with pets of her own. Portland is quieter, with far fewer animals, and suits pets who are shy, older, or don’t do well with other dogs and cats.

Pack a bed or blanket that smells like home. Each boarder meets us first, and we’ll tell you plainly if the match isn’t right.

Fully insured, certified and on time

We’re fully insured and CPR and pet first-aid certified, and Lindsay’s background before pet sitting was in animal shelters and pet stores. Last-minute bookings are possible when we have availability, so ask even if it’s short notice. Weekend and holiday visits cost a little extra.

At one of our two homes. Lindsay's Milford home is lively, with pets of her own. Portland is the quieter of the two, with far fewer animals. We'll tell you plainly which one suits your pet.

At home your pet keeps its own bed, yard and schedule, and meets only us. In a daycare or kennel it shares space with animals you have never met, which is where fighting and disease can start.

One-on-one care takes those risks away, and many animals are simply calmer when the day looks like any other day.

We visit your home before anything is booked, so your pet meets us in its own space. We go over feeding, medications, where things are, which door your dog bolts out of and what makes your pet nervous.

The meet and greet is free, and nothing is booked until you are comfortable.
