Greater Bangor takes in Penobscot County’s largest city and runs north into the lakes and woods of Piscataquis County. Some of the animals we visit here are city walkers, and some live in a barn with a few more neighbors than that. Either way, we start the same way: a free meet and greet at your home, so your pet has met us before the first booking.

After that, the visits are built around your animals’ day, not ours. That is the whole idea behind in-home care, and it is why so many pets do better with it.

What your pet gets from staying home

Daycare works for some dogs, but it comes with risks. You may trust your own dog completely and still not know the other dogs in the room, and that is how scraps and sickness spread. One-on-one care takes the crowd out of the picture.

Overnight, we stay in your home from 7pm to 9am, so your animals keep their own beds, their own yard and their own routine. Most pets settle best when the evening looks like any other evening, so we ask when the last trip outside is, whether the cat sleeps on the bed and which lights stay on, then follow your answers.

Close to our Milford home

Milford is Lindsay’s home and one of our two boarding homes. It’s a lively house with pets of her own, so boarders there need to get along with dogs and cats. Boarding pets live with the household and sleep in the house, not in a kennel run.

By road, Bangor is about 13 miles from Milford, Dover-Foxcroft about 40 and Lincoln about 46. For a shy or older pet, or one who does not do well around other dogs and cats, our quieter Portland home may suit better, and we’ll say so honestly after the meet and greet.

Not only dogs and cats

Drop-in visits can run from 15 minutes to an hour or more, and they are open to any animal: birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and other rodents, reptiles, fish and livestock. Elderly, disabled and special-needs animals are welcome too.

For a reptile, we check the enclosure’s temperature and humidity against your numbers, not just the food bowl. For fish, we measure the exact amount of food. For a barn or coop, we follow your routine for feeding and water, so everyone is looked after when you can’t be there.

Fall in the woods

Maine’s deer seasons cover most of October and November. In 2026, archery season runs October 3 to 30 and firearms season November 2 to 28, and there is no hunting on Sundays.

The state’s safety advice is to wear orange in the woods during hunting season, and plenty of owners put an orange vest or bandana on their dog as well. Some places are hunting-free all year, like the Bangor City Forest.

Ticks don’t quit in September

Adult deer ticks are active from late September to late November in Maine, and can turn up on any winter day above freezing. Maine CDC’s advice is to check pets after time outdoors, so a quick tick check is worth adding to your pet’s routine.

Winter paws

Road salt cracks paw pads, and dogs lick it off afterward. After a winter walk, we rinse or wipe your dog’s paws before they settle in, and on the coldest days we keep the route short if a dog won’t wear boots.

Yes. We care for any and all animals, not just dogs and cats. Drop-in visits cover birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals, reptiles, fish and livestock.

Tell us about yours at the free meet and greet and we'll go over feeding, water and everything else they need.

Boarders stay in one of our two homes. Lindsay's Milford home is lively, with pets of her own, and it is the closer one for this area. Our Portland home is quieter, with far fewer animals. We'll say plainly which of the two would suit your animal better.

For many pets, yes. In a daycare your dog shares space with dogs you have never met, which is where fights and passed-around illnesses start. With one-on-one care at home, those risks are gone.

Your pet also keeps their own bed, their own smells and their own schedule, and that sameness is what keeps most animals calm while you are away.

We arrive at 7pm and stay until 9am. Evening and morning meals are measured the way you measure them, with fresh water, potty breaks, medications at their set times, and play, a walk or quiet couch time depending on the animal.

We send a photo before bed and another in the morning, and if anything goes wrong, you hear right away.
