Pet Sitting & Dog Walking in Belfast
Belfast sits on Belfast Bay at the mouth of the Passagassawakeag River, with a rail trail, a harbor walk and a city dog park. We look after Belfast pets at home, any kind, any size.
- Leashed walks on the Rail Trail and Harbor Walk
- Drop-ins for any animal
- Free meet and greet at your home
Belfast turns toward the water. Boats on the bay, the Harbor Walk, art on the waterfront in summer: it’s a city built for being outside, and it’s not always a restful place for a pet.
Belfast is the seat of Waldo County. Whether your dog’s favorite walk is the Harbor Walk or a lap of the neighborhood, we’ll keep it going while you’re away. And when the best thing for your pet is to stay home, we’ll make that easy too.
Quiet at home while the waterfront is busy
Summer brings the crowds to the waterfront, from the Chamber’s Arts in the Park weekend at Steamboat Landing to the monthly art walks downtown. Plenty of people enjoy it. Plenty of dogs and cats would prefer the couch.
If you are out enjoying the events, or away altogether, your pet doesn’t have to be in the thick of it. A drop-in at home means a calm, familiar visit: a meal, fresh water, a potty break and some play, with a photo and a text afterward.
If your dog would rather skip the crowds, a quiet neighborhood walk works just as well as a lap of the waterfront.
Dog walking in Belfast: where leashes come off
- Belfast Dog Park at Walsh Field on Lincolnville Avenue: one of only two city places where dogs may be off leash (Sportsman Park is the other).
- Belfast Rail Trail: 2.3 miles on the city-owned rail corridor, from the Armistice Footbridge to City Point. Leash on at all times.
- Harbor Walk: the waterfront path from the Belfast Boathouse to the Armistice Footbridge. Leash on, and pick up after your dog.
Our walks stay with your own household. Your dog walks alone or with the dogs it lives with, and any walking buddy needs the other owner’s consent, a meet and greet and a trial walk first. After wet or muddy walks, paws are wiped and fresh water is waiting.
Any animal, any age, at home
Belfast homes hold a lot more than dogs and cats. We care for birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and other rodents, reptiles, fish and livestock. Elderly animals, disabled animals and special-needs pets are all part of the picture.
A reptile’s visit includes checking the enclosure’s temperature and humidity against your numbers. A fish gets the exact amount of food. Cats on their own get company, a toy and some attention.

Medication, recovery and care that can’t wait
Some pets need someone nearby all the time: puppies who can’t be left alone, elderly animals who need help getting up or outside, animals recovering from surgery with a cone, crate rest or stitches. We offer constant care, working from your vet’s written discharge instructions.
For medication on a tight schedule, including overnight doses, we give each dose at its set time. That includes overnight stays from 7pm to 9am, so your animals keep their own beds, their own yard and their own schedule.
Meeting us before you commit
Every Belfast pet starts with a free meet and greet in your home. Your pet gets to know us before the first booking, and you decide when you are comfortable.
That visit is also where we learn the details that keep a pet at ease: what it eats and when, where things are kept, which door the dog bolts out of, and what makes your animal nervous. Nothing is booked until all of that is clear.
Evenings go the same way. We ask how your pet’s night normally runs, and we follow it, because a pet usually settles best when the evening looks like any other.
A dog in the wedding party
If your dog is part of the day, we arrive early so it can explore the venue before the guests do. We keep it calm through photos and crowds, give water, potty breaks and quiet time away from the noise, and take it out before it gets overtired.
We can also do a practice walk in its outfit beforehand, so nothing about the day is new.
Ticks by the water, too
Maine CDC says ticks can turn up any time you’re outside and recommends checking pets after time outdoors.
Winter brings its own small hazard. Road salt cracks pads and dogs lick it off, so we rinse or wipe paws after each cold-weather walk and, for a dog who won’t wear boots, choose a shorter route on the coldest days.

Because it removes the unknowns. In a daycare you know your own dog but not every dog enrolled, and that can lead to fighting and disease. With one-on-one care at home, your dog stays in its own space and on its own routine, and you get a photo and a text after every visit.
